$6B NYU Endowment Names New Investments MD

Jeffrey Chang has joined the NYU Investment Office as a managing director of investments, he announced in a January 21 LinkedIn post.

In the new role, Chang’s primary focus will be on designing, sourcing and maintaining a portfolio of alternative investments across hedge funds, liquid and illiquid credit, and other absolute return-oriented investments, according to a job posting for the role. He will report directly to CIO Michelle Knudsen, who joined the endowment in May 2024 from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, where she was a senior portfolio manager.

According to the NYU Investment Office’s website, he joins Adam Kobor and Paul Cotter as MDs of investments for the $6B endowment. Chang was most recently senior MD and head of private equity for Guardian Life, where he spent over a decade. Prior to that, his career includes stints with Performance Equity Management and Thomson Financial.
