SV Health Investors' Second Dementia-focused Fund Raises $201.7M

Dementia Discovery Fund 2 has so far raised $201.7M from 16 investors, according to an amended filing with the SEC on January 8.

The fund is the second in SV Health Investors' series of venture funds focused on investments in dementia therapies. For Dementia Discovery Fund 2, the specialist healthcare fund manager is targeting $350M. The fund's predecessor closed oversubscribed in 2018 with total capital commitments of $350M, against an initial target of $200M. 

At its final close, Dementia Discovery Fund became the largest venture fund focused on the discovery and development of novel treatments for dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. Investors in the debut fund included AARP, UnitedHealth Group, Bill Gates, and Woodford Investment Management.
