The Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) said Michael Graham, global head of private equity, will retire from the Toronto-based pension in early 2025, according to a September 10 news release.
Senior leadership for the pension’s private equity business will be divided and transitioned to Eric Haley, who will lead the buyout strategy and teams, and Michael Block, who will lead a new private capital team. Block’s portfolio will include oversight of ventures, growth, green tech, life sciences, European and APAC private equity, and developing and executing a new global funds strategy.
Graham joined OMERS in 2004 as vice president on the private equity team, before starting the pension’s office in New York City in 2009, and finally taking responsibility as global head of private equity in 2020. In that time, Graham worked with the OMERS team to grow its private equity business from $1.5B CAD to approximately $25B CAD in assets under management (AUM).
According to Dakota data, OMERS has total AUM of $133.6B.
