The New York State Teachers’ Retirement System recently reviewed their Emerging Market Debt Portfolio.
It was recommended to establish an internally managed emerging market debt mandate of $500 million, benchmarked to the Bloomberg EM USD Aggregate Investment Grade.
Funding will be split into two fundings of $250 million, initially investing in US Treasuries.
As of December 31, 2023, the $26.6 billion pension system allocates approximately 2% to global bond strategies, with the proposed target of 0.4% to Emerging Market Debt.
