Illinois TRS Commits $800M to Alts

The Teachers Retirement System of Illinois recently approved six commitments to alternatives totaling $800 million.

In private equity, €125 million (approx. $134 million) was committed to Eighth Cinven Fund and $40 million to OceanSound Partners Fund II. 

In private credit, $200 million was committed to Apollo Asset Backed Finance Fund and $125 million to Hudson Northern Shipping Fund V. 

Additionally, in real assets, $250 million was committed to Stonepeak Infrastructure Fund V. 

And in global equities, $50 million was allocated to ARGA Investment Management. 

The commitments to Cinven of London and ARGA Investment Management represent new relationships for the pension fund. 

As of January 31, 2024, Illinois TRS was valued at approximately $68.5 billion.
