The Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois has made five alternative investments totalling up to $275 million.
In private equity, $100 million was committed to TA XV-A. Two Foundation Capital venture capital funds were committed to. $40 million was approved for Foundation Capital XI and $10 million to the Foundation Capital Leadership Fund IV. $25 million was committed to 3 Boomerang Capital I. 3 Boomerang focuses on healthcare companies in the lower middle market.
In addition, $100 million was committed to the Brevan Howard Special Opportunities SPC hedge fund. Brevan Howard currently manages $514 million for the TRS.
