Institutional investors continued to ramp up activity across private equity, real assets, and public markets. TRS Illinois disclosed nearly $1.7B in 2024 commitments, including deals with BlackFin, Mill Point, Insight, Quantum, Carlyle, Brown Brothers Harriman, TCW, Longfellow, and Cerberus. LA Fire & Police plans to extend its small cap core equity contract with Palisade Capital Management through 2028, citing consistent outperformance. Alameda County selected Arga Investment Management to manage half of its 10% emerging markets equity allocation.
North Carolina’s Treasurer added former Hamilton Lane VP Hannah Menachem to its private equity investment team. Ohio STRS committed $175M to Haveli Investments, while also adopting a new asset allocation structure.
M&A and executive moves remain active across the wealth space. Cerity Partners announced the acquisition of $1.8B AUM West Coast Financial. In Canada, Kensington Capital acquired ONE9’s venture capital business, strengthening its dual-use tech platform exposure. UX Wealth appointed Brad Roth as CIO, while EP Wealth acquired $660M Peninsula Wealth, expanding its Northern California presence.
These moves reflect a broader trend of strategic growth and consolidation among RIAs and wealth managers as firms seek to bolster capabilities, leadership, and regional reach.
Private fund activity surged across infrastructure, climate, private equity, and tech. PGIM Real Estate closed its $2B Global Data Center Fund, while Goldman Sachs is planning to launch an open-ended private equity fund for wealthy investors. Crestview Partners closed a $600M Apollo-led continuation fund for VA Capital and ATC Drivetrain.
Other notable fundraises include LPPI’s open-ended Environmental Opportunities Fund, HarbourVest’s $500M private investment fund, and Linden Capital’s $400M structured capital healthcare vehicle. Revaia closed its €250M Growth II Fund, reaching €600M AUM, while Runtime Ventures launched a $32M seed-stage cybersecurity fund.
