Institutional investors continue to deploy capital across private markets. The New York State Common Retirement Fund (CRF) allocated $715.7M to private equity, including $300M to TA Clarendon East and $300M to Stellex Capital Partners III. OCERS set a $400M real estate pacing plan for 2025 while approving $547M across 11 alternative funds. SCERS committed $120M across private credit and real estate, while exploring a shift to a 9% benchmark for credit. Illinois Police Officers Pension Fund will issue an RFP for active US small cap equity managers, and Mendocino County selected Artisan Partners as its emerging markets equity manager.
RIA and wealth management firms continue to expand through acquisitions and key hires. Blue Owl Capital appointed Blake Shorthouse as its Global Head of Family Capital, building on its $6B in family office commitments. Kovitz, a Focus Partners network firm, acquired Transform Wealth, adding $3B AUM and expanding into Colorado and Houston. Dynasty Investment Bank named Sam Anderson and Harris Baltch as co-heads. Stifel recruited $1.35B AUM Greer Financial Group from Raymond James, while Ampersand Partners hired $686M AUM advisor Pamela Wise from Merrill Lynch. Integrated Partners added $331M AUM Prout Financial Design in Michigan, and Raymond James welcomed a $200M Southern California team from LPL Financial.
Private fund managers continue to raise capital for specialized strategies. Morgan Stanley Investment Management closed $4.1B for North Haven Infrastructure Partners IV, securing backing from institutional investors, including Alaska Permanent Fund ($50M). Stafford Capital Partners raised $1.04B for its largest-ever secondaries timberland fund, already 34% deployed. Arcmont Asset Management, backed by TIAA and APG Asset Managers, launched an impact lending strategy with €475M ($518.7M) secured for investments in climate, health, and education. Adara Ventures held a first close for its €100M ($109.3M) AV4 deep tech fund, while also launching a pan-European energy transition fund.
