News Reporter:

Job Description: The Reporter will join a recently expanded news organization devoted to comprehensive, timely and relevant coverage of the institutional capital allocation and fundraising space. The reporter will develop sources, cover industry events, and monitor Dakota’s rich, proprietary data and documents for unique story angles relevant to fundraisers, LPs, GPs and other market players. The reporter will report to Dakota’s Editorial Director, working as part of an entrepreneurial, collaborative and aggressive financial news team.

Major Responsibilities

The Reporter will be expected to:

  • Produce multiple stories a week, with an emphasis on breaking and/or data-driven news stories offering unique insights to Dakota’s customers.
  • Identify specific additional opportunities to leverage Dakota’s unique, proprietary data in compelling new features based on analysis and interpretation of this data.
  • Collaborate with a high-performing, globally distributed team of journalists focused on establishing Dakota as the leading news provider in its space.
  • Attend conferences and other industry events for stories and source cultivation.
  • Develop deep knowledge of Dakota’s customers and industry for the purposes of the most informed and relevant journalism.
  • Leverage Dakota’s video, audio and multimedia capabilities to highlight and enhance their reporting.
  • Assist the Editorial Director, as needed, in vetting, assignment, and review of stories for the offshore news team. 

Skills and Experience

The Reporter at minimum should:

  • Have at least one to two years of finance -or business- related journalism experience, with a history of breaking/exclusive reporting.
  • Be comfortable with data and data-driven reporting, preferably with some history of leveraging proprietary data to generate or enhance unique story angles. 
  • Be comfortable with high expectations for productivity and turnaround time. 
  • Possess strong comfort and familiarity with process and process management.
  • Be a proven collaborator and teammate, comfortable working in a globally distributed and remote environment.
