Director of Investments
Job Description: As the Director of Investments at Dakota, you will be responsible for leading the investment sourcing and selection process for alternative funds that align with our strategic objectives. You will work closely with our executive leadership team to identify investment opportunities, evaluate fund managers, and build strong relationships with industry leaders. This executive-level position will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of Dakota by sourcing top-tier alternative investment funds.
Key requirements for role:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in investment sourcing, due diligence, and fund selection within the alternative investment industry.
- Proven track record of sourcing, diligencing, and allocating capital to alternative investment funds.
- Strong network of relationships within the alternative asset management community.
- Deep understanding of alternative investment strategies, including private equity, real estate, private credit, and venture capital.
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and qualitative research skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Primary responsibilities:
- Fund Sourcing: Identify and source potential alternative investment fund opportunities that align with Dakota's fundraising goals and investor preferences.
- Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence on fund managers and investment strategies, including analyzing financial performance, risk assessment, and market trends.
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with fund managers, institutional investors, and industry professionals to stay updated on market dynamics and emerging opportunities.
- Investment Selection: Make data-driven investment recommendations to the executive team, ensuring alignment with Dakota's investment thesis and objectives.
- Fundraising Support: Collaborate with fundraising teams to develop compelling investment propositions and support investor relations efforts.
- Market Research: Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive intelligence to inform investment decisions.
- Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports and updates to the executive team on investment activities, performance, and progress toward fundraising targets.
