Real-world experience in sales, marketing, data, and technology
The program is designed to provide interns with a comprehensive introduction to investment sales, product technology, and marketing. Interns will work directly with professionals across Dakota’s teams, gaining insights into the financial industry while developing essential skills in communication, analysis, and teamwork.
The Dakota Summer Internship is a full-time, 6-week program that begins in June and runs through mid-July.
WEEK 1
This week focuses on gaining a comprehensive understanding of Dakota’s structure, mission, and operations, while enhancing professional skills. Participants will learn key investment terms, develop a professional resume and LinkedIn profile, and practice presentation skills by interviewing key personnel and delivering a presentation on Dakota’s divisions.
WEEK 2
This week focuses on mastering Dakota's data management practices and understanding the tech stack that powers their operations. Participants will explore the functionality of Dakota Marketplace, while gaining insights into the history, current state, and future direction of Dakota Marketplace, with an emphasis on how clean data supports efficient sales processes.
WEEK 3
This week centers on understanding the role and sales processes of Dakota’s Software Sales team, including how they engage with prospects and manage their pipeline. Participants will also develop and deliver tailored Marketplace demos, highlighting features that address the specific needs and pain points of different buyer personas.
WEEK 4
This week focuses on understanding the roles, responsibilities, and core functions of Dakota's Marketing team, including branding, content creation, social media, and event planning. Participants will collaborate to develop innovative marketing strategies and gain hands-on experience by planning and executing a mock "Dakota Cocktails" networking event.
WEEK 5
This week is centered around the Rainmaker Live! Training program, where participants will learn the core principles that drive successful sales strategies and understand the structure and purpose of the program. They will also develop business plans, create effective email templates and sales pitches, and gain hands-on experience by leading a live training session focused on the Rainmaker principles.
WEEK 6
This week provides exposure to fund managers, offering insights into various investment strategies through interviews with portfolio managers. Participants will engage in product training on Dakota's investment offerings, analyze key strategies, and develop compelling investment strategy pitches based on learned concepts and insights from PM interviews and training sessions.
Can I apply as a previous Dakota intern?
Yes, we would love to have you back for another summer! However, please know that the program will run very similarly to the previous summer.
Can the internship be remote?
Unfortunately our internship program is only in person. We cannot accommodate remote interns in any capacity.
What if I am interested in a specific team at Dakota?
We are thrilled that you are interested in a specific team at Dakota. However, our internship program runs as an all encompassing experience covering all teams and business units over the course of 6 weeks. This gives our interns the opportunity to learn and experience how a business functions as a whole, and not just as a specific role or team.
Where is the internship located?
The Dakota Internship is located in our downtown Philadelphia Office at 2300 Chestnut St. Interns will be in person Monday-Thursday and interact with a handful our of teammates on a daily basis.
When will I find out if I received an offer letter?
Offer letters will be sent out on a rolling a basis. We will reach out regardless. All offers will be sent out by mid February.
