Stephen A. Meyer
Mr. Meyer is a Managing Partner at Dakota Capital and serves on the board of several portfolio companies, including Divinity Assets, Kailea Networks and KanTerra Networks. Prior to joining Dakota in 2004, Mr. Meyer was a Managing Partner in TechFund Capital. At TechFund, Mr. Meyer managed investments in portfolio companies and actively assisted portfolio companies in all facets of early stage developmentÊ from strategy, planning, operations, sales, fund raising, and acquisition. Mr. Meyer directed TechFund's deal sourcing activities and participated on TechFund's investment committee. Mr. Meyer jointly led the formation activities and fundraising for the firms third fund.
Before joining TechFund in 2000, Mr. Meyer was the President and COO of Puma Technology, Inc., now Nokia. (NYSE:NOK), where he was responsible for driving critical aspects of company growth, including strategy, financing, M&A, partnerships, and operations. During Mr. Meyer's tenure Puma grew from a market capitalization of $400 million to a high of $4 billion and Puma was recognized as the Nasdaq's #1 performing stock in 1999.
Mr. Meyer came to Puma through its acquisition of NetMind Technologies, Inc., where Mr. Meyer served as SVP of Sales and Business Development. At NetMind, Mr. Meyer helped to create the Alerts and Personalization space, signing up clients such as eBay, CNN, Gateway, Boeing, IBM and Siemens. Mr. Meyer led NetMind's growth and turned a total investment of $8.7 million into a company worth $1 billion in just over a year.
Prior to NetMind, Mr. Meyer was a Partner with a boutique investment banking and management concern, focused on software and emerging technology companies, and selected turn-around opportunities. Mr. Meyer has worked with firms from the U.S., Russia, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Mr. Meyer began his career as a Marketing Representative at IBM, where he was consistently among the firm's top producers, and has manufacturing and operations experience at Chrysler and in the computer industry.
Mr. Meyer holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA, magna cum laude, in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
